A signature evening celebrating Quebec choreographers, where the vibrant energy of Cas Public (Hélène Blackburn x Cai Glover) meets the sensitive reflection of Zachary Bastille and the neoclassical dance of the junior company BD Dance Project —presenting a triptych choreographed by Owen Montague, Shawn Hounsell, and Jérémy Galdéano— like a surprising embodied dialogue on stage.

YEAHH by Hélène Blackburn (Cas Public)

YEAHH brings together two opposing musical forces: the raw, magnetic presence of James Brown and the intricate elegance of Rameau. It is a playground for two dancers, a dialogue of bodies searching for one another, slipping from a shared glance into an intense embrace. Founder and director of Cas Public for over three decades, Hélène Blackburn has brought her visionary creations to the world’s most prestigious stages, from the Paris Opera to London’s Royal Opera House.

Que la beauté nous décapite by Zachary Bastille

Que la beauté nous décapite depicts the ideological clash between two individuals driven to the limits of their convictions. Inspired by the rise of masculinism and political violence, the work is led by choreographer Zachary Bastille, a multidisciplinary artist whose talent has left its mark on the Quebec arts scene, notably during a notable appearance on the show Révolution.

Rose red and Violet Blue by Cai Glover (Cas Public)

In Rose red and Violet Blue, Choreographer Cai Glover explores the extractive and attractive elements of friendship in this new duet, reminding us that friendship and its many colors can build us up and break us down. With 25 years of practice and a decade of collaboration with Cas Public, the hard-of-hearing artist plunges us into this relational web where we are made and unmade in the hands of another: “It’s not that I won’t consume you, because I will, but what form will you be when your whole becomes me?

Triptych presented by BD Projet Danse, with choreographic works by Owen Montague, Shawn Hounsell, and Jérémy Galdéano

Highlighting the sheer virtuosity and drive of rising young talent, this triptych by junior company BD Projet Danse features three compelling works: Une Solitude by Owen Montague, a vibrant, passionate piece brought to life by eight young dancers; Untitled (figures) by Shawn Hounsell, a neoclassic duet executed with surgical precision to explore the intimacy of human connection; and bangbang by Jérémy Galdéano, a striking creation for eight performers that fuses classical technique with a razor-sharp rhythm and daring theatricality.
