His groundbreaking collaborations with Brian Eno on the Ambient series set new standards in studio experimentation, leading to iconic work with U2 (The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby), Peter Gabriel (So), and Bob Dylan (Oh Mercy). Lanois approaches the studio as an instrument, blending roots music with cutting-edge sound design.
