Mokatek in Reading: A meeting of words, music, and song that brings a story to life, celebrating the power of Indigenous imagination, the passing down of knowledge, and the bonds that connect us to our roots.

Let yourself be swept away by a storybook reading about little Mokatek, who loves counting the stars as he drifts off to sleep. Since his mother disappeared beneath the river’s waters, he has been giving an account of his days to the brightest star in the sky, his guide that watches over him from above: the North Star. On the night of a full moon, it vanishes. And so begins a journey to find the shining star, during which Mokatek will discover the strength and courage within himself. A quest for his origins, guided by the spirit of sounds and animals.
