A true hymn to joy, love and life, the arresting Turangalîla-Symphonie abounds in contrasts and vivid tonal colours. Here, a highly virtuosic piano part and the mysterious-sounding ondes Martenot play leading roles in the orchestra. A collaborator of the OSM for many years, Jean-Yves Thibaudet joins the Orchestra as Rafael Payare conducts one of Messiaen’s most powerful works.
