Experience a socially engaged artistic scene where poetry and slam give voice to freedom. In the classroom, students learn to perform and play with words through workshops.
As part of our Education program, David Goudreault will present his latest performance—blending humour and poetry—to your students at the iconic Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier. He will share insights into his creative process while bringing well-known texts from the Francophonie into dialogue with the ups and downs of everyday life. Following the 60-minute performance, the artist will take part in a discussion with students and answer their questions.
Poet, novelist and columnist, David Goudreault is also a social worker. The first Quebecer to win the Poetry World Cup, he has published four poetry collections with Écrits des Forges and Mémoire d’encrier, as well as five novels with Éditions Stanké. His first show, Au bout de ta langue, has been performed 400 times in venues and over 600 times in school settings. His inclusion in the 2024 Le Robert Illustrated Dictionary highlights his role as a passionate advocate for the French language.
In-class workshops
To introduce students to the artistic discipline featured in the show (slam poetry), our school program includes one or two workshops, depending on your preference, led at your school by an experienced artist-mediator. Two workshops are recommended to explore the topic in greater depth.
In connection with the performance, the workshops introduce students to the power of words through an introduction to poetic and engaged writing. Students are first invited to explore lexical fields, before learning to play with words and perform a text using rhyme.
In-class workshop period: January 5 to April 30, 2027
Duration: 75 minutes
Maximum capacity: 40 students
