Artists’ Residencies

Through its residency program, Place des Arts supports professional artists in their live arts creation projects, offering them a space where innovation and experimentation can come to life. Having privileged access to a rehearsal space that encourages the production of original works is a unique opportunity for artists to push the boundaries of their creativity and bring their artistic visions to life.
To date, the program has hosted several hundred artists. Our rehearsal rooms also graciously host emerging artists from the Société d’avancement de la chanson d’expression française (SACEF) and the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal. In 2022, Place des Arts innovated by welcoming choreographer and documentarian Rhodnie Désir as an associate artist for a pilot project. This partnership allowed her to create the show Symphonie de cœurs.
As part of the 2025-2026 cultural season, Place des Arts will welcome Dumas, Olivier Rousseau, Corpuscule Danse, Cirque In Toto, Paco Ziel, Geneviève Bouchard, Productions Maïgwenn et les orteils, Victoria May, and Laura Brisson in residence. The projects of these creators were chosen for their diversity of disciplines, relevance, and quality.
The Artist Residencies are made possible through the financial support of the Fondation de la Place des Arts.
