For the return of the great pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet to the Amphitheatre stage, one concerto naturally comes to mind: Camille Saint-Saëns’s celebrated Fifth, known as the Egyptian, of which he is today the interpreter par excellence.

The OSM and guest conductor Stéphane Denève join him in a program that brings together the abundant inventiveness and exotic flair of George Gershwin with the most famous pages from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen, where music becomes a theatre of passion, seduction, and fate.
