Creating music with the body and voice

The music workshops from the Adaptive Arts Program offer an exploration of choral singing, traditional or body percussion, or a combination of music and voice.

2026-2027 Workshops

Choose from four music exploration and creation workshops.

Choral singing

For adults
A wide range of exercises that draw on both creativity and collaboration: spoken and sung voice work, controlled improvisation, body and vocal warm-ups, rhythm, projection and singing in canon.
Percussion

For youth and adults
Workshops offering an introduction to traditional African percussion through the creation of rhythmic sequences using djembes. Participants will also explore group singing.
Body percussion

For adults
Workshops exploring the art of body percussion through the creation of rhythmic sequences paired with choreographed movements.
Percussion and voice

For youth and adults
Rhythmic and vocal exercises to learn how to improvise and create original musical atmospheres together using percussion and voice.

For adults: series of 6 workshops

- Mondays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  September 14 to October 26, 2026 (no workshop on October 12)
  Public performance: October 19, 2026
- Wednesdays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  October 28 to December 9, 2026
  Public performance: December 2, 2026 (during the Place à l’Art adapté event)

Free registration

Target audience

Youth groups: young people aged 7 to 18 with motor, sensory, cognitive or psychological limitations or disabilities.
Adult groups: individuals aged 18 and over with motor, sensory, cognitive or psychological limitations or disabilities, or those experiencing social and cultural exclusion (e.g. French language learners, newcomers).

Requirements

Open to schools and organizations
Participants must be accompanied by at least one staff member from the school or organization
10 to 20 participants per group
