Indie and alternative music has captured the hearts of audiences everywhere over the years. Place des Arts welcomes many contemporary and alternative artists, offering them total artistic freedom on its stage.

Many indie and alternative bands and artists have had the chance to perform at Place des Arts, sometimes in front of thousands of people. Recently, the British band alt-J performed twice as part of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal—much to the delight of long-time fans. In 2014, it was American singer Beck who ignited the stage at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier during the same festival.
