After many years of making the Frenchspeaking world laugh with his cult albums (over 2 million copies sold) and his work on radio and television, François Pérusse now presents his very first original stage play, created in the pure tradition of Boulevard theatre.
The plot of Boulevard Pérusse follows a Québécois family that founded a multinational company which invents and manufactures practically everything—entirely ecologically. But a problem arises… One of their factories has been taken over in a country ruled by a dictator. Chaos erupts between the company and the Québec Minister of Trade! The family even receives a visit from an employee of that factory… who fled his country to alert the owners to the situation. People are in danger over there, and action must be taken quickly.
The story holds together. But… it was written by François Pérusse! So expect slamming doors, twisted wordplay, wild plot twists and dialogue, characters appearing out of nowhere, etc. And to top it all off, one of the characters isn’t even human—and it is voiced by Pérusse himself.
Entirely original, this stage play is a true theatrical extension of the “Pérusse style”: ambient sound effects that define his world, quirky and absurd situations, explosive dialogue, and wonderfully chaotic detours. It’s funny, unpredictable, and absolutely unique!
