Sema or Sufi whirling means mystic audition. It is an active meditation or rather, a turning prayer inspired by Persian mystic philosopher and poet Mevlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi (1207-1273). Widely considered a universal symbol of peace, Sema is always accompanied by poetry and music, and its original form was always improvised. The future is ancient and the music keeps us alive.
