To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Festival International Bach Montréal kicks off its anniversary edition by bringing together two giants of the 18th century - Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel - in a festive program.
John Butt, music director of the Dunedin Consort, will conduct the Festival Orchestra in a triptych of landmark works from the Baroque repertoire. J.S. Bach’s Magnificat showcases the full splendor of sacred choral composition, while Handel’s Water Music evokes the splendor of the English royal court. The Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 caps off the evening with its infectious energy and virtuoso interplay among the strings.
