Beyond the picket lines, hungry eyes turn to Querelle, a worker who is impossibly handsome, perfectly free, and perhaps dangerous. Under the eyes of Jézabel, one of the few female workers at the mill, his provocative presence stirs up masculine desire and virility. Bottles fly and bats swing as rage explodes into violence.
New contemporary creations, year after year
For 40 years now, Festival TransAmériques (FTA) has featured compelling performances at the intersection of dance and theatre. Renowned for its boundary-pushing stage performances, each year the festival features some 20 shows from here and elsewhere.
This highly regarded event, the largest contemporary art festival in North America, marks the kickoff of Montréal’s festival season each year. One of the first major events of spring, FTA takes over Place des Arts and the heart of the city. The program is constantly evolving, but the festival never fails to deliver a lively celebration of the arts.
