November 1 to 2, 2025
Curated by Kim O’Bomsawin and themed “Languages and Territories,” this 5th edition of Micro ouvert autochtone (Indigenous Open Mic) offers a free and varied program that changes every day.
This 2-day event will create unforgettable moments again this year: opening ceremonies led by an elder; musical performances by Terry Uyarak, Maten, Willows, and others; screenings of shorts and feature films followed by discussions with their directors; a craft fair; Indigenous culinary offerings; children’s workshops; digital works; exceptional book readings; and much more!
A word from the event curator, Kim O’Bomsawin
This year, we’re celebrating Micro ouvert autochtone’s 5th anniversary! For five years now, our voices, rhythms, and stories have resonated through Place des Arts. For this anniversary edition, I chose the theme of Languages and Territories. Because the eleven languages of the First Peoples of Quebec are very much alive, rooted in our territories, passed down by our elders, and carried forward into the future by our youth. Hearing them on stage is an opportunity to experience all the strength and beauty of our cultures. For two days, we’re bringing you nothing less than a great celebration: music, cinema, literature, visual arts, crafts, good food, get-togethers, and laughter. The whole family is welcome, with a program that will put a sparkle in the eye of both children and adults alike. Micro ouvert autochtone is our way of coming together, celebrating, and sharing. It’s a big party, as well as a moment of participation and pride. Come experience it with us, taking our rhythms and flavours back home with you as you leave with a head full of newly learned words!
