March 4 to April 4, 202623 performancesThéâtre Jean-DuceppeThree decades have passed since the theft of the wampum, a sacred object and symbol of unity for the small community of Whitefish (Wapeyit-Nomehs). The village is being torn apart by a political crisis: two influential clans are engaged in a fierce power struggle.
Theatre, an art form that brings people together
Duceppe boasts over 50 years of stories told through striking productions and a unique approach to theatre that creates a powerful connection with the audience. This was the mission embraced by artistic directors David Laurin and Jean-Simon Traversy when they took charge of the programming.
The result is an annual theatre season filled with original creations presented as premieres within the walls of Place des Arts. Duceppe also offers tours that bring the shows to all corners of the province. This allows them to reach nearly 100,000 people year after year, all while shining a spotlight on current ideas and opinions through entertainment.
Corps fantômes: from exhibition to performance
Soon, on stage at Duceppe, story of Montreal’s LGBTQ+ communities in the 1980s and 1990s will resonate in the show Corps fantômes.
