Montréal, April 20, 2026 – From November 4 to 14, Place des Arts will present a unique version of Entre chiens et louves by the prestigious French troupe Cirque Le Roux during which the composer and pianist Alexandra Stréliski will share the stage with the circus to perfom pieces which she composed along with some other well-known classics. This Montréal exclusive promises to make the experience of this internationally acclaimed work, already performed over 250 times worldwide, even more captivating!
Born from a long-standing friendship, Alexandra Stréliski and Cirque Le Roux’s founding members’ collaboration dates back to their student days in Montréal. Since then, they have exchanged services: she creates the music for the troupe’s productions and the troupe stages her concerts. True to Alexandra Stréliski’s wish to perform with them if the show were presented in Montréal, it’s now happening at Place des Arts: accompanied by the string duo Julia and Natalia Kotarba, as well as the electronic musician Jimbo Canoville, Alexandra Stéliski will share the stage with Cirque Le Roux, adding an additional layer to the performance.
Entre chiens et louves embodies the distinctive “ciné-cirque” approach developed by Cirque Le Roux, where the scenes unfold like cinematic sequences. Eight virtuoso acrobats portray characters across three eras: 1850, 1960 and 2026. Tracing their journeys, the piece is a staggering excursion through time, evoking the collective memories that make us who were are, filled with revolt and emancipation, but which still divide us today. A true testament to the human condition, the piece depicts a world full of hope, offering a glimpse of the forgotten who are just waiting to be reborn.
Again rich scenery in movement, the circus disciplines - acrobatics, balancing, dance, lifts - unfold in a dreamlike chiaroscuro, enhanced by Alexandra Stréliski’s néo-classic musical universe.
“Adepts at theatrical and cinematic ambiances, the eight circus artists translate couples’ stories using aesthetic, high-level acrobatics.” – Télérama (translated from the original)
“Entre chiens et louves immerses the viewer in a historical universe, tinged with dreamlike qualities and humour, where eight virtuosos defy the laws of gravity.” - France info Culture (translated from the original)
Blending physical virtuosity and visual poetry, the show illustrates the unique signature of Cirque Le Roux, renowned for pushing the boundaries of contemporary circus by combining it with theatre, dance and cinema. This encounter with live music by Alexandra Stréliski amplifies its impact and promises a rare, spectacular, and profoundly moment.
Premiering in Montréal, the show will continue its run with 15 performances at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, from December 22, 2026 to January 8, 2027.
