Since the beginning of the year, a succession of dance shows has taken to the stage at Place des Arts: Margie Gillis, Sankofa Danzfro, Minuit quelque part, Message In A Bottle, Netherlands Dance Theater, and Sofia Nappi, not to mention Les Grand Ballets’ upcoming Cantata, Carmina Burana, and Giselle, as well as Symphonie de cœurs!
From classical ballet and documentary choreography, to neo-classical, contemporary, and jazz — dance is creative, varied, and expressed in a full range of forms and styles. Yet, a preconceived notion persists that this art form is only intended for a knowledgeable audience. Why?
Moderated by Catherine Perrin, this discussion brings together Lydia Bouchard, a dancer, choreographer, and judge on the show Révolution; Ivan Cavallari, Artistic Director of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens; Rhodnie Désir, choreographer, dancer, and Place des Arts’ first Associate Artist; as well as Pierre Des Marais, Co-Founder of Danse Danse. Place des Arts’ Entretiens arts et société are open to all, free of charge. They offer an opportunity for lively discussions inspired by shows and activities taking place at Place des Arts or focused on newsworthy issues.
