Julia Mirzoev and Felix Hong have chosen to present, as a duo, works that celebrate the lyricism and expressive richness of the romantic repertoire for violin and piano: Schubert's Grand Duo Sonata, imbued with depth, Grieg's Sonata No. 2, which evokes Nordic poetry, passing through Ysaÿe's Poème Élégiaque and Amy Beach's Romance.
The prodigious Canadian violinist Julia Mirzoev, a soloist and chamber musician, named by the CBC as one of the most promising Canadian musicians under 30, is the recipient of numerous awards. These include first prizes at the Irving M. Klein International String Competition, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, the Crescendo International Competition, and the Cremona Music Festival Competition. She also received the Grand Prize at the Canadian Music Competition.
Pianist Felix Hong has established himself as one of the most prominent talents on the Montreal and Canadian music scene, after winning the Grand Prize at the prestigious Prix d’Europe Competition in 2017, as well as the Prix Jean-Marchand for the best collaborative pianist in 2022. He is nominated in CBC’s 30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30, and has completed two master programs (Master of Music, Master of Performance) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
