A little heroine, a big monster… and a lot of courage!
Inspired by a popular African tale, the story of Mwana and The Turtle’s Secret tells of the difficulties a small African village faces, day after day, as a giant monster comes to steal the villagers’ food supplies. One day, when little Mwana tells the village chief she can get rid of the problem, he wonders how such a little girl could defeat a monster that no one has ever been able to stop. That is the premise of this tale that uses shadow theatre, object theatre, and puppetry to explore the French proverb “We often need someone smaller than ourselves.”
