Let yourself be moved by cumbia’s sensual sounds
Latin Groove Montréal is ready and willing to teach you the moves of this seductive dance, featuring swaying hips and undulating arms, and Niña Volcán’s and Boogát’s music will have you longing to join in the fun.
Originating in the 17th century on the banks of Colombia's Magdalena River, cumbia emerged from the fusion of Indigenous, African, and Spanish cultures. Over time, it has spread throughout Latin America, giving rise to a wide variety of regional styles – from places as far apart as Argentina and Mexico – as well as more contemporary versions, such as technocumbia.
Dancing is a great way to bring people together, and cumbia is a perfect example of this. Newbies and experts alike are welcome. Together, they'll discover the secret to a great night out: some catchy tunes, a few new dance moves, and just letting yourself move to the groove.
