Violinist Hao Zhou – 1st Prize winner of the 2019 Montreal International Musical Competition – and pianist Philip Chiu invite you to a concert in which our neighbour to the South shines in many of its artistic facets! During his time as Director of the New York Conservatory, Dvořák composed the Sonatina, op. 100, inspired notably by his recent trip to Pennsylvania and bearing some of the same colours as his famous Symphony “From the New World.” Copland and Kroll were both inspired by American folk dances, while Still’s Suite is steeped in the African American heritage of Harlem.
